Thriving Provisions was birthed out of our basement apartment in Le Suer, Minnesota (birthplace of Green Giant, Cambria, and Frog Tape). I began dreaming of ways that I could contribute to our income as a full time student. I took God at his word,
"The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall for the Lord upholds him with his hand. I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging for bread." Pslams 37:23-25
Bread. I LOVE bread. Growing up, my family would set out on an expidition to Montana in the blizzerding month of December. 12 hours, 9 kids, and one suburban. No matter how long the journey lasted- I forgot as soon as I stepped into my grandmother's kitchen. The smell of FRESH WARM bread filled the air. She has been baking bread for 55 years, since she married my grandpa. My grandpa inspired my grandma to carry on his family tradition of making sour dough.
My great great grandpa was a rancher in rual Montana. He forged a sour dough starter and made fresh biscuits over the campfire for his family. My grandpa can still taste them. To this day, my grandparents make sour dough pancakes and sour dough bread weekly. Our family sour dough is RICH, RIPE, FLAVORFUL, AND BUBBLY. The flavors have been tended with the upmost care for over 100 years.
Although I love bread, most doughs, toasts, and buns make my stomach ache. Sour dough however is different. It is packed full of "antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity." The bacteria in the sour dough eats away the sugar and glutten- so "it is often more tolerable for gluten sensitivities." (Dr. Ayala, 2020). Sour dough is the preferable choice if you are looking for a more nutritious/flavorful bread. However, starting the process of making it can be complicated and challenging.

Bring my family's sour dough into your kitchen! My sour dough starter is unique because it has been passed on for over 100 years. I culture it weekly by feeding it with ORGANIC high quality flour, purified water, and freshly grounded sea salt.
It is my heart's desire that you know the provision of the Lord as you experience my family' sour dough. I pray that your body and soul will be enriched as you embark on your journey.
